An early statement in ProRodeo

Cody Ohl entered the professional ranks in 1994, earning Rookie of the Year honors and his first NFR qualification. His first tie-down roping world championship followed in 1997, and he repeated in 1998.

The 2001 finish

Ohl arrived at the closing stages of the 2001 finals in a strong championship position. A serious knee injury during the ninth round prevented a conventional finish to his week, but the money already won was enough to secure both the tie-down and all-around titles.

The career beyond that moment

After rehabilitation, he returned to the road and added tie-down world titles in 2003 and 2006. His career total is six world championships: five in tie-down roping and one all-around. The 2023 Vegas NFR Icons recognition places that wider career alongside the unforgettable image of his 2001 title celebrations.
