RODEO LEGENDS / ICONS CLASS 2022
All-around & roughstock competition
A seven-time all-around world champion whose versatility helped make him one of rodeo’s best-known crossover figures.

|---|---|
| Core competitive range | Bareback, saddle bronc and bull riding |
| Vegas NFR Icons class | 2022 |
Ty Murray set out to become an all-around cowboy rather than specialize in only one discipline. His development took him through youth, high-school and college rodeo, including Odessa College, before he joined the PRCA at eighteen.
Murray won six consecutive all-around world titles from 1989 through 1994 and added a seventh in 1998. The sequence surpassed the previous six-title benchmark associated with Larry Mahan and Tom Ferguson. Bareback horses, saddle broncs and bulls formed the core of his competitive versatility.
His public profile later extended through television and commercial appearances, including a fourth-place finish on Dancing with the Stars in 2009. The 2022 Vegas NFR Icons recognition connects that broad visibility with the championship record that first made his name in the arena.
Vegas NFR Icons recognition year: 2022. This identifies the honor, not a championship season or a scheduled 2026 competition appearance.
